General Manager - Hong Kong

We are currently working with a top tier International Legal Firm to identify a General Manager for their Hong Kong/China offices which currently numbers close to 400 legal and business services professionals. The role reports to the Asia COO and is part of the Firm's Operations, Risk & Administration function that supports and manages the day to day operations of the Firm.

The role:

This role is an important newly created position to drive the implementation of Firm strategy in Hong Kong in the context of their wider China strategy; providing leadership and support to ensure all office functions and business professionals are aligned to deliver exceptional service to internal and external clients; You will be a trusted advisor to the HK/China Office Managing Partner as well as the COO, working closely with the Regional Administration Director for Asia on all operational matters affecting the Hong Kong office.

Specifically, you will advise and support the leadership team and other global function leaders to implement Firm strategies, processes, policies, guidelines and reporting; supporting the development of the office business plan you will ensure the effective implementation of Asia and Firm strategy in the office - leading, with relevant function leaders, office business planning and budgeting in coordination with office and global leadership. You will use your experience to drive operational and financial improvements by monitoring and analysing financial and other key performance indicators as well as providing strategic, analytical and project management support to execute key projects and initiatives.

The candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of at least 15 years professional experience of which 10 years should be in the field of business/office management and administration. Our client are most interested to hear from candidates that have experience working within Law Firms or within other partnership organisations within the professional services sector. Experience in managing cross-functional groups within a global, multi-office organization and experience in effectively leading organizational change is preferred. Candidates from disciples such as HR, BD, Office Management etc are encouraged to apply if you have good Legal services support experience.

You will have developed strong business acumen in your career and driven operational excellence, client service and cost management and be highly disciplined in executing strategies and programs to achieve operational objectives. Well-developed and sophisticated organization, communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate and build trust with partners and business professionals at all levels will be critical in this role. Candidates will need to be fluent in Cantonese and English and educated to Degree level.
